Buzzed, The Straight Facts About The Most Used And Abused Drugs From Alcohol To Ecstasy

Cynthia Kuhn

Kuhn, Cynthia. Buzzed, The Straight Facts About The Most Used And Abused Drugs From Alcohol To Ecstasy. New York, New York. 1998

The Book Buzzed The Most Used and Abused Drugs is about the deadliest drugs. As you get into the book you start to ask yourself "do people really do these?" and "have I done any of them?" The most used drugs around are piles, alcohol, cigarettes, weed, and lethal injection.

Chapter one is about piles. Cynthia tells you why piles are considered a drug and why people take them. Then she tells you how you can get them. She is trying to get you to start. After you have learned all that you will then learn what effects it has on you good and bad.

The next chapter is about alcohol. In this chapter you can tell Cynthia has a pretty good idea of what alcohol is doing to you or at least she thinks she does! She tells you that once you consume alcohol you instantly become a drunk that just wants to fight and do what ever you want. She also tells you the ups and downs about alcohol. She explains if you get caught drinking and driving, or under age drinking. You learn some things that you might not have known, like how many people get killed each year from alcohol.

Cigarettes is covered in the third chapter. In this chapter, Cynthia gets way off topic by trying to get people to help raise cigarette taxes, and does not mention what smoking does to your body. She could of at least said how many people die each year from smoking and what age most people start smoking. But she doesn't. She just insists on getting people to help her raise taxes. Weed is the fourth chapter on used and abused drugs. Cynthia tells you the harmful things that weed does to your body but leaves out the fact that some people have to have it for medicine. Cynthia doesn't really explain why weed is a used and abused drug, she just says that if you use it then you are a bum with no life.

Leather Injection is the final of the used and abused drugs. This is the worst of all as the author explains it. The first time you use it you are hooked and can't stop until you are dead or put in a rehab center. You, the reader, may not know that much about it but that's ok, because the way the author explains it sounds like she doesn't either.

This is not a good book to use if you ever have to do a report about drugs. It would seem that Cynthia doesn't know that much about drugs. She doesn't explain why they are the most used and abused drugs. She talks about how people get hooked on them and what they do to you. This book could of been better if it was written by a drug addict. People would then learn about drugs so they don't become attached to them.
