Judge A Book By Its CoverBook Reviews & SynopsesI Dream of MurderCatherine Dexter
Dexter, Catherine. I Dream of Murder. Morrow Junior Books. New York, New York. 1997. I Dream of Murder: an enigma that is full of anguish by the brilliant author, Catherine Dexter. This book includes a new surprise with every page you turn and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. Everything seemed to come easy for the main character, Dean. From sports to girls everything had it's place and was a breeze. Dean was the football captain of his state qualifying team and was the Valedictorian of his Senior class. In everyone's eyes he had the perfect life, until he pushed his luck too far and experienced something he would never forget. One night, Dean and some friends decided to visit their town psychic, but what he thought was just fun and games was about to be a life or death experience. After the psychic finished her voodoo and talking in some sort of language that Dean could not recognize, he knew his whole life was about to change and for the worse. The next morning, Dean woke up from a dream that seemed real. He dreamed that he witnessed one of his friends being murdered. As he entered the school that morning, his whole dream was played out perfectly. With every new day each of his dreams of murder became reality. Finally, one day he decided he was going to change everything he would see. His next dream was about a girl named Terry. She was very much different from Dean. She was pretty much the geek in school which no one liked. Although, Dean never had any contact with her, he was determined to save her life. Dean and Terry always bickered, because of their differences. At times they would show trust and compassion for one another while running from the murderer. Dean and Terry became very fond and valuable to each other as they realized they had more in common than they expected. While the murderer chased Dean and Terry to the campground, Dean began to look for help when the darkness fell over him. He decided to leave Terry behind to be safe. When Dean returned later, Terry was gone... Catherine Dexter's mystery mayhem, I Dream of Murder keeps the reader wondering what is going to happen next? It shows compassion and intrigue, yet leaves the reader sometimes in wonder because the story is left on an edge. I Dream of Murder is good book to read because it keeps you entertained with each new surprise and is perfect for teen readers. 3 out of 5 stars Contributed by H. Ross JudgeABookByItsCover.org |
