Judge A Book By Its CoverBook Reviews & SynopsesThe GunslingerStephen King
King, Stephen. The Gunslinger. New York, New York. 1989. The Gunslinger is one of many stories from the great writer Stephen King. If you like books that have no point then this is the one for you. The story is about a man named Clifford that goes out hunting in the mountains of Canada and comes across a crow. The crow starts to follow the man every where he goes. First Clifford likes the crow because he is all alone in the mountains so he keeps the crow with him. Then one day the crow bites Clifford. Clifford just thinks it is nothing so he goes hunting. While out hunting he sees a deer and gets ready to shoot. Right before he shoots the crow starts making lots of noises and the deer runs away. Clifford got mad, he turned to the crow and started yelling. The crow started flying around trying to bite Clifford again. While they were fighting the crow swopped down and took a chunk out of Clifford's ear. After getting back home he patched up his ear and went looking for the crow Clifford had two guns and all the shells he had for them cause he wanted the crow dead. After a week of looking he found some crows, so he shot them. When Clifford got up to the dead crows he noticed that the crows did not have the patch that he put on his. Three weeks went by and he still no sign of the crow but what he didn't know is that the crow was hiding in his house. The crow decides one day that he is going to let Clifford know where he is. When night came, the crow started flying around. Clifford jumped up and got his gun. Clifford shot another gun that was loaded which was pointed at him. It went off and struck him in the head, killing Clifford instantly. The next day, Clifford comes back from the dead to kill the crow that killed him. The Gunslinger has to be Kings worst piece ever because it just makes no sense at all. If you ever wanted a good book to read then this would certainly not be the one for you. This book is hard to get into. There are some people out there that will say this is a good book, but really King had no point in this whole story.
